Minister Hamilton Praises Taiwanese Aid

EugeneHamilton-12(ZIZ News) – Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Eugene Hamilton has praised the Taiwanese Government for its assistance in developing the local agriculture sector.

Speaking at a Crop Quality Improvement Workshop, Minister Hamilton noted the significant contributions the Taiwanese have made to upgrade agricultural production.

“Our friends, perhaps our most genuine friends, have made indelible marks on our agricultural development seen in the Agro-Processing Unit, the Needsmust Demonstration Farm, the Agro-Tourism Farm, and now the Soil Fertility and Pesticide Analysis Laboratory,” he explained.

The most recent joint effort is a Vegetable, Fruit, Upland Crop Quality and Safety Improvement Project.

Minister Hamilton described this venture as a step in the right direction for St. Kitts and Nevis.

“This project is welcomed by the Ministry for its clear promise in enhancing the quality of foods that is consumed in our marketplace. It is for me, and I hope it is for all of us, a step in the right direction,” he said.

As part of the project, the construction of a Soil Fertility Analysis Laboratory and a Pesticide Residue Detection Laboratory are to be completed this month and will begin to provide service to farmers in June.
