Minister Hamilton Visits Cunningham Heights To View Progress On Housing Developments

(ZIZ News) — Minister of Human Settlement, The Hon Eugene Hamilton paid a visit to Cunningham Heights in Cayon on Tuesday to view the progress of the housing developments.

Cunningham Heights is the first area where construction of homes under the Team Unity Administration’s Housing Solutions Programme is set to begin.

While speaking with ZIZ, Minister Hamilton said that all potential homes in the plot of land had their foundations already excavated while adding that he witnessed the installation of water during his visit. He said that the widespread installation of both water and electricity should be finished when the project is complete.

He also expressed how pleased he was with the number of contractors working promptly to complete the project.

“I am satisfied that we have at least 8 or 9 contractors who have been engaged to construct these 15 homes and so they should finish the project on time”, the Human Settlement Minister expressed.

Minister Hamilton said the government will build 15 homes in the Cunningham region and he expects that in the coming weeks, work will begin in other areas across the country.

He explained that the workload for this week would have been cut short due to the Easter holidays and added that persons should expect production of other houses to commence in about one and a half weeks.

He said altogether, “within the next few weeks, the development of over 100 homes will be on stream”.

Under The Unity Housing Solution Program, approximately 300 homes will be built throughout St. Kitts-Nevis and will feature an income-based repayment plan.
