Miss St. Kitts contestants announced

ZIZ Newsroom, Basseterre, December 1, 2012 — The contestants for the 2012 National Carnival Queen Pageant have been revealed.

At a media and sponsorship launch at Carambola on Friday night, the National Carnival Committee introduced the five young ladies who will be vying for this year’s crown.

They are Mikahlia Lawrence, Precious Mills, Shalloyda Hewlett, Irvincia Warner, and Zinga Imo.

Business and government officials were among those on hand to witness the reveal of the young ladies.

Minister of Culture, the Hon Marcella Liburd said the pageant is more than just physical beauty.

“We are very happy when we present these pageants for the confidence it gives to our young ladies, because they need that not just for the pageant but for life. So it’s a confidence building effort throughout,” she said.

Head of the pageant committee, Nisharma Rattan Mack said the reveal on Friday night was only the beginning and the contestants will be revealing more about themselves soon.

A sashing ceremony will also be held to officially announce each contestant’s sponsor.

The pageant itself will be held on December 27.
