National Bank Sponsors St. Thomas Primary in the 2014 Inter Primary School Sports Meet in Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts – On April 2 the St. Thomas Primary School in Nevis was the recipient of a cheque for $2,000.00 from the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited. This amount was donated to the school to facilitate participation in the highly anticipated 2014 22nd staging of the Inter Primary School Sports Meet held at Elquemedo Willett Park, Nevis.  Nevisians enjoy a public half-holiday for this annual, well-supported event.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the Bank were Shirna Pemberton and Sabina Vaughan.  Ms. Vaughan offered encouraging words to the athletes.   “…Work hard to win the championship.  We at National believe in you and are proud of you.  Do your best so that you can be proud of yourselves. Play fair, play to win and have fun in the process”, said Ms. Vaughan.

Receiving the cheque for St. Thomas Primary was Principal Ms. Norlene Smithen accompanied by the athletes, coach and teachers.  Ms. Smithen expressed profound gratitude to National for its outstanding and consistent support of the school.  According to Ms. Smithen, “Like many nationals, we have concluded that this bank is the best for our Federation.”

National and St. Thomas Primary have long enjoyed a partnership which began in 2006.  Since that time, St. Thomas Primary, defending champion, has always secured one of the top three spots at the Meet, emerging as champions for the past two years consecutively.

The Meet, streamed live via the internet and broadcast live on radio and television allowed viewers and listeners to enjoy real time results.  Races were keenly contested and in the end St. Thomas Primary finished in second place, a proud achievement.

National is pleased to have made such a positive impact in the lives of these young athletes and to the school as a whole.
