Nationals in the United Kingdom get update on developments in St. Kitts and Nevis

(CUOPM) Nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis residing in London and its environs met with St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas while he was in the British capital last week.

During the November 1st meeting, arranged by the St. Kitts and Nevis High Commission, Prime Minister Douglas, who was joined by Special Advisor, Dr Norgen Wilson, nationals were welcomed by the High Commissioner His Excellency Dr. Kevin Isaac who briefed them on the Prime Ministers engagements over the course of the week.

Dr. Wilson gave an update on the crime reduction strategy employed by the national security forces in the Federation and the strides taken in providing resources to the Police Force.

Attention was also focused on developments in health and education sectors.

In his presentation, Prime Minister Douglas explained the significance of the Citizenship by Investment programme to St. Kitts and Nevis as a vehicle for growth and development.

He pointed to its supportive role in expanding the tourism sector, facilitating assistance in vocational and tertiary education, in renewing focus on agro-tourism, helping to develop a strong financial services sector and ensuring that St. Kitts and Nevis becomes a more modern society with first class information technology capabilities.

The expansion of the manufacturing sector, and sustainable energy practices were also key points of the discussions with nationals.

Prime Minister Douglas also highlighted the fact that a growing number of countries are modelling their programmes on the St. Kitts and Nevis’ initiative.
