Navigator: Appreciation of Calypso

(ZIZ News) — Calypso as a cultural institution is appreciated by many throughout the Federation, as was evident this past carnival season.

For veteran calypsonian Joseph “Navigator” Bergan, calypso is much more than music and singing; it is an art form.

In an interview with ZIZ News, Navigator said he has a deep love and profound love for calypso, stating, “I listen to all other music but I think after God Almighty, calypso comes as a priority.”

He said he enjoys performing and being able to touch people when he sings or creates something he is proud of.

Navigator’s appreciation for calypso has propelled him to host the Awesome Navigator Calypso Review, a concert in aid of his continued rehabilitation.

It will be held on January 22nd.
