NEDD continues outreach to current and prospective entrepreneurs

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 23, 2012 (SKNIS): The National Entrepreneurial Development Division (NEDD) is continuing its public outreach as it strives to advance economic growth, diversification and competitiveness by fostering small business development.

Business Development Officer, Phillip Browne, told the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service that the second in its series of Community Business Meetings will be held on Thursday, April 26, at the Old Road Community Center.

The presentations are designed to aid potential and current entrepreneurs and will explore how to write a business plan, financing options for small businesses, government’s incentive programme, among other topics.

Mr. Browne noted that the first meeting held in Tabernacle, was quite successful. “It was well attended and the discussions were lively,” he explained, noting that there was a good balance between males and females as well as those in business and those wishing to be.

Twenty five persons attended the February meeting, representing various fields including tourism, agriculture, food and beverage, health and wellness, and IT services. Some attendees encouraged other persons in similar fields to work collaboratively and consider forming a cooperative.

“In fact, several of those persons have since visited our offices to get more insights as to how they can move a step closer to making their dreams a reality,” the business development officer revealed.

Officials from FirstCaribbean International Bank will join representatives of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis in making presentations at the gathering. Mr.Browne encouraged all interested to attend and participate freely at the meeting on Thursday.
