Nevis Players square off on the Weekend

CricketFilePhotoCSports Page — The members of the Nevis Cricket squad faced off over the weekend in two trial matches which will serve to select the final squad for this year’s Leeward Islands cricket tournament, which is set to bowl off on the 25th September.

Two half centuries were made: One by Captain Tonito Willet of one team and the other by Captain Adelvin Phillip of the other team.

There were some other reasonable scores of twenties and thirties and some of the top bowlers got among the wickets.

Here is a summary of the two matches played:

Game 1—Saturday 13th September: Tonito Willet’s X1-154 for 7: Tonito Willet 57; Alex Williams 39; and Shelton Forbes 25*

Justin Athanaze 2 for 12

Adelvin Phillip’s X1—155 for 7: Adelvin Phillip 56; Akito Willet 21; Kejel Tyson 20; Junie Williams 16*

Tonito Willet 2 wickets; Philo Wallace 1 and Jason Campbell 1

Game 2-Sunday 14th September: Tonito Willet’s X1—182 for 9: Jason Campbell 46; Tonito Willet 36; Xavier Cornelius 36; Alex Williams 26.

Trevin Nisbett 3 wickets; Junie Williams 2

Adelvin Phillip’s X1—11 for 1 when rain washed out play.
