Nevis’ Police Officers Encouraged to Renew Pledge

NEVIS (January 4TH, 2010) — Divisional Commander of the Nevis branch of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Hilroy Brandy is calling on officers to renew their pledge thereby focusing on the division’s three-year plan of ensuring “safer communities through partnership.”

Inspector Brandy made that call on Tuesday [Jan. 4] during his New Year’s message in the Police Recreation Room at the Divisional Headquarters in Charlestown.

With police officers being heavily scrutinized in 2010, Inspector Brandy applauded the performance of his officers. He said however that although the division met its objective of increasing the crime detection rate by 10.2 percent over the 2009 figures, its officers should increase efforts to ensure positive results.

“Public confidence in policing service is our ultimate objective,” Inspector Brandy said as he ordered police officers to work closely with the public in their crime detection and crime minimization efforts.

“Without the assistance of the public, we cannot achieve our objectives. Let us reinforce the partnership with the community and be advocates for discipline,” he added.

Inspector Brandy, dressed in his sam brown-coloured, full inspector attire, informed officers that they were “part of the chain responsible for the overall performance of the Police Force.”

In reminding the officers of their roles as ambassadors of St. Kitts-Nevis and encouraging them to work cohesively, the Divisional Commander underpinned the importance of being “disciplined, regular, punctual, energetic, polite, vigilant, courteous, impartial, neatly attired and possess that willingness to learn.”
