NIA – The Ministry of Tourism on Nevis, will join with its counterparts in St. Kitts for the 2nd annual St. Kitts-Nevis Restaurant Week, from July 13 to 24, 2016. Participating restaurants has surpassed that of last year and more than 40 are registered for this year’s event.

Kathleen Pessolano, Consultant to the Ministry of Tourism on St. Kitts disclosed in an interview with John Hanley, Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism on Nevis, at the Gin Trap Bar and Restaurant on July 02, 2016 that the week is designed to promote the local dining scene on both islands.

“Each restaurant will come up with special menus at discount prices, so that local people as well as visitors will be able to sample a range of restaurants…

“We ask that they get creative with the theme ingredient… This year its local pumpkin, so the restaurants will feature some exciting dishes using local pumpkin,” she said.

This year, 40 restaurants in the Federation will be participating in the event. Eleven are from Nevis. All participating restaurants are expected to offer a special Restaurant Week menu in four categories.

There are three categories in the dinner specials. The Gin Trap Bar and Restaurant and Nisbet Plantation Beach Club will offer a three-course meal for EC$162.

The second dinner special offers a three-course meal for EC$108. Which will be offered by the Four Seasons Resort Nevis – Mango Restaurant, Mount Nevis Hotel, Oualie Beach Resort, The Hermitage Plantation Inn, Golden Rock Inn, Nevis and Sunshines Beach Bar and Grill.

Dinner specials will be offered for EC$54. However, that category is not being offered by eating establishments on Nevis.

Boddies Café, Oasis Restaurant at the Botanical Gardens, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, The Hermitage Plantation Inn and Sunshines Beach Bar and Grill will be offering lunch specials daily.

All specials are priced per person and includes tax but does not include beverages or gratuity. The dinner restaurants will also feature drinks specials from a number of participating businesses.

Pessolano used the opportunity to invite the public to participate in Restaurant Week. She urged them to make advanced reservations and to visit the website www.restaurantweek.kn for more information.

Meantime, Hanley pledged the Ministry’s support for the event. He added that it would provide an opportunity to merge with the Ministry of Agriculture.

“The Ministry of Tourism whole heartedly embraces restaurant week. Nevis has some of the finest restaurants in St. Kitts and Nevis…and it is an opportunity for them to showcase what they have to offer…

“This is an excellent opportunity to create a linkage between agriculture and tourism and with that strong linkage being forged by Restaurant Week our economy can only get stronger,” he said.
