Nevisians encouraged to apply for CARICOM Youth Ambassador positions

Charlestown, Nevis, JUNE 17TH 2013 — The Youth Affairs Division at the Social Services Department of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) has invited applications for two persons to fill positions of CARICOM (Caribbean Community) Youth Ambassadors in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Ms. Vieda Mills, Youth Development Officer at the Department of Social Services, said the deadline for applications was June 26, 2013 and forms were available at the Department of Social Services, Youth Affairs Division located at Lower Stoney Grove and the Ministry of Social Development at Lower Park Range, Charlestown.

According to Mills, applicants should be experienced youth leaders, who were resident nationals between the ages of 16 and 29 and who were able to commit to a minimum of two years’ service.

“As a youth, you will be known as a role model for the Federation. You will represent the Federation’s youth in all positive aspects. You will be known as a social activist. Your responsibilities are to educate the youth, both male and female persons who will fill this role as the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors,” said the Youth Development Officer.

Ms. Mills explained, that the Nevis’ Youth Affairs Division was accepting applications on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Social Development and she encouraged Nevisian youths to apply, since Nevisians they never had the opportunity to fill the post before.

“We…encourage our youth to apply. You will be known as a role model and youth will also look up to you to learn more about what CARICOM has to offer,” she said.
