New Foreign Affairs Minister wants Travel Restrictions removed

(ZIZ News) — Nationals of St. Kitts-Nevis have the assurance that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the leadership of the Hon. Mark Brantley, will seek to remove travel advisories that are currently in place for the country.

Speaking with ZIZ News on Monday, Brantley said he has a major task ahead but he is committed to getting the job done.

“Foreign Affairs mean that I become the Chief Diplomat for the country, a very difficult task as we try to resolve issues with Canada and other friendly governments throughout the region. We now need to engage but I can assure you and the public that it will get the first and foremost attention from me and from this new government,” Minister Brantley said.

He also spoke of Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris’ desire to have the travel restrictions removed.

“The Prime Minister has made it very clear that these are issues that he wants resolved and so, you will see us in the next few days and weeks engaging actively as we seek to get these matters resolved, ultimately for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” he said.

On Sunday, during the swearing-in ceremony for the new Cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis, Brantley was given responsibility for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Aviation.
