Newtown wins Championship Trophy in Digicel Premier Football League

LR – Anthony Johnson, Sean Latty & Stanley Jacobs

ST. KITTS (JUNE 2, 2010) – After 8 months of good football action the TDC Newtown United F.C. were announced champions of the Digicel Premier Super League Championships on 30th May, 2010.

Although the weather was not the best, spectators were out in their colours supporting their players as Newtown won to St. Peters 4-1. It was certainly a heart breaker for St. Peters Football Club, scoring the first goal of the match in less than 5 minutes after the referee blew the first whistle. Not buckling to the early goal, the TDC Newtown United F.C. definitely lived their dream on the field scoring 4 goals to seal and win the championships.

In the most colourful closing ceremony ever both clubs were presented with medals and trophies by The Honorable Sam Condor, Sean Latty – Digicel Country Manager, Sharez Laws – Digicel Marketing Manager, Anthony Johnson – SKNFA President and Stanley Jacobs – SKNFA General Secretary.

After the presentation of trophies, both players and spectators were treated to fireworks, chanting from the players and a street jam session with the ever so popular Iron Band, leading from the Park to the centre of town.

Congratulations to all the teams who participated in the 2010 Digicel Premier League.
