No More Foreign Aid

ZIZ News…July 05, 2010 – The region may have trouble getting foreign aid in the future.

That’s the word from Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir K. Dwight Venner.

During the banks annual report Sir Dwight says the sub-region needs to brace for a decline and in fact, a possible end to foreign aid.

He says the advanced countries are going through major debt problems and won’t be able to provide aid to some countries in the Caribbean.

Sir Dwight said that a major challenge for the OECS will be to manage the expectations of citizens in a world economy which will be experiencing below average rates of growth.
