Officials Updated on Koi Resort Progress
(ZIZ News) — Prime Minister Dr. Hon Timothy Harris says the ongoing Koi Resort project is expected to bring numerous benefits to the nation.
Earlier this week Dr Harris led a group of ministers on a tour of the site to get an update
Prime Minister Harris and Minister of infrastructure the Hon Ian Liburd continued their visit to hotel sites on Tuesday with a stop at Koi Resorts in Conaree.
A few months ago Dr Harris, Minister Liburd, and the Hon Vance Amory made their first visit to the site as the Team Unity government, and this week the ministers said they are very happy with the progress.
Dr Harris said the government is pleased with investor confidence in the federation.
“The investor confidence in St. Kitts and Nevis continues to be at a high level and that is why the projects are continuing and investors are indicating interest in new and upcoming activities. For that we are grateful because the significant investment would certainly spur economic growth, lead to job creation, and most importantly lead to higher earnings for the workforce in St. Kitts and Nevis,” he said.
Minister Liburd spoke of the benefits the resort would bring to various sectors in the federation.
He said “Jobs are being created and from a tourism standpoint some 95 rooms are being added to the tourism plant and that speaks well to the future under a Team Unity Administration. We said we are going to transform the economy and this is part and parcel of that commitment to do so.”
Construction of the nine villas is expected to be completed by this month.
When finished, Koi Resort will include commercial spaces, a casino, spa, wedding chapel and nightclub.
The entire project is expected to be completed by 2017.
