Over 19,000 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts last week, 17,000 expected this week

The Celebrity Mercury and the Azura berth at Port Zante; the Seabourne Sojourn docked at Bird Rock and the Wind Spirit anchored off shore last week Sunday

ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 13, 2010 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts hosted over 19,000 cruise passengers last week and expects some 17,500 this week.

According to figures from the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), 19,428 cruise passengers were on board 12 cruise ships that berth at Port Zante or the Deep Water Port at Bird Rock.

Four cruise ships visited last week Sunday – the 1,896-passenger capacity Celebrity Mercury with 1,772 passengers on its third visit for the season and the 3,597 passenger capacity Azura with 3,074 passengers on its third visit docked at Port Zante; the 450-passenger capacity Seabourne Sojourn docked at Bird Rock with 400 passengers and the 308-passenger capacity Wind Spirit anchored off shore with 128 passengers.

Wednesday the 2,850-passenger capacity Celebrity Eclipse on its second visit, berth with 2,788 passengers and the 540-passenger capacity Silver Spirit with 400 passengers.

The 2,224-passenger capacity Norwegian Dawn docked with 2,258 passengers, the 2,501 passenger capacity Serenade of the Seas with 2,130 cruisers and the 170-passenger capacity Star Clipper visited St. Kitts on Thursday.

On Friday, the 3,050-passenger capacity Carnival Victory paid its weekly visit with 3,139 passengers while the 1266-passenger capacity Maasdam paid its second call for the season with 1209 passengers.

Saturday saw the 1,950-passenger capacity Sea Princess on its second call for the season with 2,013 passengers berth at Port Zante.

This week, 10 cruise ships with an estimated 16,500 passenger capacity are scheduled to visit St. Kitts.
