Permanent Secretary in the Health Ministry Jean Dixon retires from public service

JeanDixon-1Kingston, Jamaica — Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Jean Dixon, has retired from public service, effective Friday, September 5, 2014, the Ministry confirmed in a statement late Wednesday (September 10).

Dr Dixon served as Permanent Secretary in the Health Ministry for five years.

She was appointed in 2009 with responsibility for the management of the Ministry’s operations as its Chief Technical and Administrative officer as well as oversight responsibility for its agencies and departments.

Prior to the Health Ministry Dr Dixon served as the Permanent Secretary in the ministries of Industry and Commerce, and Technology.

Dr Dixon has been engaged for over eleven years with the Government of Jamaica in various capacities and also served on the Board of Directors of several public and private sector entities and has special interest in issues related to the environment and sustainable development, the Ministry statement said.

Dr Kevin Harvey, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will serve as the acting Permanent Secretary effective September 8, 2014.
