PM Douglas keeps hectic schedule at 67th United Nations General Assembly

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 26TH 2012 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas Wednesday continued a hectic round of engagements on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Dr. Douglas besides attending the General Debate held bi-lateral discussions with representatives of Indonesia, Luxembourg, and Lithuania.

He is also expected to attend receptions hosted by the President of South Africa, His Excellency Jacob Zuma and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheik Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

On Monday, Prime Minister Douglas attended a High-Level Ministerial Breakfast Meeting on the occasion of the Rule of Law hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands; the Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative; a High-Level Lunch event on Women’s Access to Justice hosted by the Heads of Delegation of Finland and South Africa; a Clinton Global Initiative Reception hosted by President Bill Clinton and another reception hosted by President of the United States, the Hon. Barrack Obama and Mrs. Obama.

On Tuesday, prior to the Opening of the 67th United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Douglas attended a Welcome Reception for Heads of State and Government and an Official Lunch, both hosted by the United Nations Secretary General, His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister also attended a bi-lateral meeting with His Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, the United Arab Emirates Minister of State and Managing Director of Dubai Expo 2020 and attended a Reception hosted by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon. Julia Jillard for Heads of Delegation, Foreign Ministers and Permanent Representatives.

On Thursday, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Douglas attends the United Nations General Assembly Debate, participates in a CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting with the United Nations Secretary General and the Second AOSIS Leaders Summit hosted by the President of Naru, His Excellency Sprent Arumogo Dabwido.

Prime Minister Douglas is to address world leaders on Friday.
