PM Douglas salutes “The Springtime” candidates at “Red & Silver” Dinner

Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) — St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas says the new candidates in the next general election for his ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) will assist in cementing the leadership of the Labour Party.

Dr. Douglas, also the National Political Leader of the SKNLP for 25 years come next month, saluted the three dubbed “the Spring Time Crew” in Mr. Konris Maynard for St. Christopher 3, Dr. Vance Gilbert for St. Christopher 7 and Dr. Terrance Drew for St. Christopher 8 and called for political support for all his Labour Party candidates.

“I ask you to give them your support. They mean well. They will continue to carry the legacy of Labour forward. I will not be here, in fact I am already on my way, but I want to make sure that they can carry the mantle of leadership with your support,” Prime Minister Douglas told cheering supporters and patrons at a “Red & Silver Dinner” which climaxed two weeks of events to celebrate his 25 years of service as the Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher 6.

“Tonight,  I ask for your support in making sure that (St. Christopher) #4 is returned to Labour, (St. Christopher) #5 comes into the fold of Labour. It is time that Dr. Norgen Wilson becomes a part of the Cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is time that Dr. Vance Gilbert be allowed to sit with us in the Cabinet for constituency #7 and Dr. Terrance Drew must be allowed to part of us and don’t talk about Konris Maynard, he has to be there. I need all of these young men who are ready to serve, but they need your support,” said Prime Minister.

Elections are constitutionally due by January 2015.
