PM Douglas thanks hundreds for birthday greetings on Friday

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas gets birthday greetinsg from London on Friday afternoon

ST. KITTS, JANUARY 14TH 2011 (CUOPM) – It was business as usual for St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas as he celebrated another milestone on Friday.

Although his workload was a little lighter than normal, Prime Minister Douglas had an audience with His Excellency the Governor Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, chaired a video conference with members of the Ministerial Committee on Banking of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Unit (ECCU) at the headquarters of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), participated in an emergency meeting of the Bureau of the Caribbean Heads of Government to discuss the post elections matters in Haiti and accepted telephone calls from constituents, nationals, residents and friends at home and overseas.

From Thursday, Prime Minster Douglas, the popular leader Kittitian and Nevisian leader, who won a fourth consecutive term in office in one year ago this month, began receiving hundreds of birthday messages and wishes via email, BB, cards and telephone.

Friday, several local radio stations were inundated with callers from St. Kitts and Nevis and overseas, expressing their love for their Prime Minister, whose St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party won 60 percent of the popular vote on St. Kitts and wished him the best of health, happiness and continued vision in administering the twin-island Federation.

In a Facebook message, Prime Minister Douglas thanked “God for yet another milestone and for his tremendous blessings, considering my own mom did not make it beyond age 31 years.”

“My profound gratitude are expressed to my children and their mom, loved ones, siblings, multitude of special friends, constituents, and all who work closely with me especially Edmeade, Janet, Hillary, Torfreda, Erasmus, Bev and office staff and my Cabinet colleagues who are celebrating this special day with me.”

“Blessings to all for your gifts, cards, electronic mails, text messages, BBMs, calls and radio requests, which have all been pouring in from home and abroad since yesterday, and which have been a source of comfort and inspiration in the continuation of my service to the people of our beloved country and the region.”

Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister sang the happy birthday song and drank Ponche Kuba to the health of their Boss, just before he left office to attend the funeral of a senior constituent.
