Police in Nevis recovers firearm and ammunition

ZIZ News…May 14, 2012 — The RSCNPF Nevis Division during its strategic operations during the weekend of May 12th 2012 achieved success in an ongoing Narcotic and Firearm Investigation.

The premises occupied by Phyllis and Taj Wilkin of Nisbett Settlement was searched and therein the Police recovered one millennium Taurus .45 caliber pistol and twelve (12) .45 rounds of ammunition.

In Collaboration with the Customs and Excise Officials formal charges were laid before Mr. Taj and Ms Phyllis Wilkin for Firearm, Ammunition and smuggling charges.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Liburd is pleased to bring initial closure to these ongoing investigations but assures the general public that other leads are currently being followed up with a view to ensure that future strategic operations are successful mounted.

The Commissioner of Police is cognisant of the geographical challenges that this twin island Federation poses in achieving effective law enforcement initiatives whilst taking back our streets and therefore craves the continued support of the general public as the DELTA Squad’s ambit continues to be enhanced as the RSCNPF continues to take measures to improve the safety and security conditions thus contributing to a stable environment for sustainable growth and investment within the Federation.
