Police investigates robbery

St. Kitts, 17th November 2010 – On Wednesday 17th November 2010 at approximately 10:40 am police received a report of a robbery at St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. at New Street Basseterre.

Police officers from the Basseterre area responded immediately and their enquiries revealed that three (3) masked men armed with guns entered the St. Kitts Co-operative Unit and robbed the employees of an undisclosed sum of money and cell phones and made their escape. The crime scene was processed by officers from the Crime Scene Department.

There are no suspects in custody as yet but investigations are feverishly ongoing.

The High Command wish to reassure the general public that all is being done to ensure that St. Kitts and Nevis remain a safe destination to live and visit and that this robbery is certainly not the norm but is a crime of opportunity as a number of police officers from the various units were deployed on patrol in the Basseterre area this morning.

The High Command is also once again appealing to members of the general public to render their assistance and support in providing information in relation to this matter or any other crime.
