Police investigating weekend Shootings and Robbery

CrimeSceneInvestigationA(ZIZ News) — The police are investigating a shooting incident on Monday that has put a young man in the hospital.

According to reports, 20-year-old Jason Morton of Hermitage, Cayon was shot in the vicinity of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank’s Automated Teller Machine [ATM] at the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Park.

According to Public Relations Officer for the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Inspector Lyndon David, Morton was transported to the hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

Morton’s attacker or attackers are at large.

In other police news, the Violent Crimes Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Nevis on Sunday evening.

Hospitalized is Sheldon “Dappa” Lawrence of Stoney Grove who was shot upon leaving his house at approximately 8:45pm.

The well-known footballer is said to be in stable condition.

Up to press time, no one had been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a burglary that took place at RAMS Cash and Carry at Bird Rock.

Reports indicate that a senior level employee of the establishment was robbed by an unknown armed assailant at approximately 3:50 on Friday.

The assailant was able to leave with an undisclosed amount of money.

The police are urging anyone with information to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 467- 1886, 1887 or 1888 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-8477.
