Police Officer charged with Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and Rape

ZIZ News…Nov. 5, 2011 – A police officer with over ten years of service has been arrested and charged for rape and unlawful carnal knowledge.

A senior police official told ZIZ News that the Police Constable was arrested and charged on Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2011, for raping a fourteen year old girl while she was in police custody at the Cayon Police Station where he was working.

The incident took place last Sunday October 30 and was arrested and charged today Saturday following extensive investigations.

The Police Officer is expected to answer to the charge next week Monday November 7, when he would be taken before the Magistrate.

If convicted when the case goes before the High Court for trial on the Rape and Unlawful Carnal Knowledge charges, the police officer could face a jail term of twenty five years to life.

The Officer in question served in the Royal St. Kitts Nevis Police Force for approximately twelve years and worked in both St. Kitts and Nevis during his service in the law enforcement body.
