Police seize large amount of hashish

(ZIZ News) — The Anti-Drug Unit of the Royal St. Christopher And Nevis Police Force has seized a bale containing a large quantity of hashish.

Hashish or “hash” is a very potent extracted product of the cannabis plant.

According to a police statement the bale was seen bobbing in the waters off Half Moon Bay by a group of swimmers on Saturday.

The police say the bale contained a number of compressed packages and this is the first seizure of this quantity of hashish for the police force.

Commissioner Ian Queeley thanked the individuals who contacted the police saying “it is this type of cooperation and partnership that will help to reduce crime in our Federation.”

He urged citizens and residents, to “report any criminal activity they may be aware of” to the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 8477.

The investigation into the find is ongoing.
