Police Updates (August 11, 2014)

ZIZ News — Arrests

Demetrius Martin of Conaree Village was formally arrested and charged for Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply which were committed on 23rd July 2014.

Akeem Francis of Sandy Point was formally arrested and charged for Simple Larceny, which was committed on 23rd July 2014.

Monroe Merritt of Cardin Avenue, Basseterre was formally arrested and charged for Possession of Cannabis, which was committed on 26th July 2014.

Ruben Govia of Molyneaux Village was formally arrested and charged for Harassment four (4) counts and Threatening Language, which were committed between 7th and 22nd July 2014.

Taj Taylor of Meades Pasture Gingerland was formally arrested and charged for Driving Without Insurance, Driving Without a Valid or an Unexpired Driver’s License and Driving an Unlicensed Vehicle, which were committed on 25th July 2014.

The Criminal Investigations Department was investigating a series of break-ins in the Mattingley Heights area which occurred between 19th and 20th July 2014, during which a number of electronic items, an undisclosed sum of money, and other valuable items were stolen. An intense investigation was carried and a large number of the stolen items were recovered.

Jason Liddie of St Johnson Village was formally arrested and charged for Burglary which were committed between 19th and 20th of July 2014. His co-conspirators and accomplices Kevin Smith of South Shadwell Development and Jermaine Underwood of Ottley’s Village were previously formally arrested and charged for a number of counts of Burglary.

The head of the Criminal Investigations Department and the investigators involved in these cases therefore take this opportunity on behalf the Commissioner of Police and the entire The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force to thank all those persons who were instrumental in the investigation.

In other news: Shamaldo Maynard of Pond Extensions was convicted for Possession of Cannabis which was committed on 3rd August 2014 at Charlestown Pier, and fined $800.00 which is to be paid in two (2) weeks or in default will serve one (1) month in prison.

Winston Roberts of Irish Town was convicted for Larceny which was committed on 4th August 2014 at Cultural Complex, Stoney Grove, and fined $1000.00 forthwith or in default will serve three (3) months in prison with hard labour.

Gavin Davis of Church Ground was convicted for Escaping Lawful Custody which was committed on 1st August 2014, and fined $750.00 which is to be paid in two (2)) weeks or in default will serve one (1) month in prison.

Post Mortem Examination

On 7th August 2014, a Post Mortem Examination was conducted on the body of the late Hugh Stapleton Jr of Pond Hill by Resident Pathologist, Dr. Adrian Quintana Nunez. It was concluded that the cause of death was Asphyxia due drowning.

St. Paul Police Seeking Public’s Assistance

The St. Paul Police Station is investigating a report of Housebreaking and Larceny which took place a home at Rawlins Estate, St. Paul Village between 6th and 7th August 2014. A number of valuable items were stolen which include:

  • One large picture frame
  • One (1) three (3) seater and a single seater living room chairs
  • One large GE refrigerator
  • One face basin
  • One mahogany dining room set with four (4) chairs
  • Two (2) single mattresses
  • One (1) Queen size mattress

The general public is therefore reminded that it is an offence to knowingly receive stolen items.

Anyone who has information pertaining to this incident is asked to call the St. Paul Police Station at 465-6281, or, the nearest police station, or, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember you do not have to provide your identity, and you may be eligible to receive a reward.
