Pope, Presidents of the US, Germany and Cuba congratulate St. Kitts and Nevis on Independence 31

EdmundLawrence-1Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) — The Presidents of the United States, Germany and Cuba, the Pope and the Dutch King have extended congratulations to the Federation on the 31st anniversary of Independence.

U.S. President, the Hon. Barack Obama in his message to Governor General His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence said the “United States acknowledges the strong bonds between our two nations as we jointly pursue a secure and prosperous future for the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis and the United States.”

“We look forward to a deeper collaboration on many issues, including renewable energy, climate change, economic development and regional security,” said President Obama’s message.

President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Joachim Gauck in offering congratulations on behalf of himself and fellow Germans told Governor General Lawrence that bilateral relations between Germany and St. Kitts and Nevis “are marked by friendship and mutual trust.”

“I am convinced that our excellent relations will continue to grow deeper over the years ahead,” said the German President.

Dutch King, Willem-Alexander told the Governor General that the celebration of the 31st Anniversary of Independence gives “me an opportunity to extend to Your Excellency my congratulations and my best wishes for a prosperous future for the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.”

Pope Francis in extending congratulations to the Governor General and citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis on the 31st Anniversary of Independence “pray that the people of the Nation may continue to work together for peace and harmony” and “evoke upon all the abundant blessings of the Almighty God.”

Mexico also used the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of Mexico to work jointly with St. Kitts and Nevis in strengthening the relationship between both countries.
