RAMS Primary School Championship is on this weekend

ZIZ News…March 29 2012 — Over 700 students from (21) twenty-one different primary schools on St. Kitts will be participating this weekend Friday 30th March – Sunday 1st April in the 2012 Edition of the RAMS Primary School Championships. This year promises to be even more exciting as the influx of athletes at the development meets were a direct result of the participation of the children in this particular category. Most of the primary schools now boast at least (1) one IAAF Level One Coach who have been instrumental with the preparation of our athletes, strategizing the way forward to win the 2012 covenant title.

Although three of the of the twenty one primary schools will not be participating, their students will be allowed to register and compete as independent athletes. The performance of these athletes does not hinder them from excelling as we have witnessed the three peat Victrix Ludorum coronation of independent participant Olujade Bridgewater.

Cash prizes will again be awarded to the top five (5) schools using the same structure from 2011:

1. EC1000.00
2. EC750.00
3. EC600.00
4. EC450.00
5. EC300.00

The RAMS Trading Group title sponsor for the championships will be adding a different element to this year’s competition through tastings of new products! Athletic patrons can expect complementary beverages at beverage stalls conspicuously located on the grounds. In January 2012, Nestle entered a global initiative with the IAAF providing sponsorship to spear head the Kids Athletic Program. Since the inception of the IAAF Kids Athletics Program in 2005, it has already surpassed an audience of over 1.5 million children in over 100 territories. This is great news granted that our principle sponsor RAMS is also the agents for Nestle. Nestle’s product MILO, was previously the title name and principle sponsor of these championships.

Amongst the highlights of the 2012 championship, Delisle Walwyn and Company Ltd and its subsidiary company KANTOURS, will be joining the sponsorship table. Delisle Walwyn, the agents for Caribbean Alliance Insurance will be responsible for most of the transportation of the athletes to and from the stadium. They were quite happy to come onboard after learning of the exorbitant cost associated with providing transportation to and from the championship venue. “We at Delisle Walwyn are extremely happy to partner with the St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association.”, said Michael Ryan, Insurance Director, Delisle Walwyn. “We are grateful to make a contribution to something that is very important in the stability of our young people. Athletics is definitely moving in the right direction and my company is committed to making this contribution to the development of the grass root in athletics, fueled by the programs and initiatives of the SKNAAA”.

The 2012 RAMS Primary School Championships, will be held at the Silver Jubilee Athletic Stadium in Bird Rock, St. Kitts from Friday 30th March through Sunday 1st April 2012. Competition commences at 2pm on Friday and Sunday and 1pm on Saturday. Admission, Kim Collins Pavilion EC20.00, Stands EC15.00, Grounds Adults – EC10.00 and Children Under 12 EC5.00.
