Recruits charged to be exemplary soldiers

(ZIZ News) — The newest members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force have been charged to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the Defence Force.

During the passing out parade for Basic Military Course No. 18, Defence Force Commander Lt. Col. Patrick Wallace, said the people expect a high standard of behaviour from every soldier.

“It is an undeniable fact that military service comes certain expectations which demand that the soldier be held answerable for their conduct and actions regardless of their location or duty station. This is something you cannot escape. Every member of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force is accountable for their personal conduct at all times,” he noted.

Colonel Wallace challenged the soldiers to demonstrate the appropriate personal behaviour expected of a Defence Force soldier.

“ I therefore challenge you to be on your best behaviour at all times, locally, and even more so when you are overseas. Always consider yourselves as emissaries of your Federation and Defence Force,’ he said.

The ceremony marked the graduation of 28 SKNDF recruits of the Basic Military Course No. 18 following 15 weeks of training.
