Saddlers Secondary School hosts Students’ Empowerment Seminar

(ZIZ News) — The Saddlers Secondary school hosted its annual Student’s Empowerment symposium in the Ocean Terrace Conference room on Wednesday.

The all-day seminar was organized to assist the fifth form students who are preparing to sit CXC Examinations later this year.

Fifth Form Year Head, Andreana French spoke in detail about the event’s purpose. “We’ve organised a symposium as a way to empower them because we realized that our students, they lack that motivation and they were not in the right frame of mind for the upcoming exams. So we wanted to do something to get them prepared for their upcoming exams and to basically change the way they think so that is why we chose our theme ‘Transforming Our Attitudes for a Rewarding Future’ with hopes that our presenters and everything that we do here at the end of the day, they will transform those attitudes”, she explained.

Fifth Form Student, Sheski Christian says the symposium has encouraged her to aim for the best results.
“The presenters spoke about what to do and what not to do when entering the work field and they spoke about studying tips and I am really hoping to make my school, myself, my parents and my teachers happy when my results come back for CXC”, she expressed.

And 5th form student Danecia Henry, told us what she gained from the seminar. Henry said, “This is the first time I’ve ever been to a symposium. With that said, I am now are of what to do and what not to do in terms of studying”.

Meanwhile, 5th Former, Kymani Wilkin used the opportunity to thank the ministry of education and the school organizers for hosting the event.

During the seminar, various speakers were brought in to boost school spirit, uplift and encourage the students.

Topics covered included Communication and Decorum, College Advisement, Opportunities for Advancement, Study Tips, Building Self Confidence, Career Paths and Time Management.
