Secondary students encouraged to choose peace

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 13, 2013 (SKNIS): The Saddlers Secondary School on Friday (May 10) held a Personal Development Workshop which focused on conflict resolution and respect for self, peers and authority.

Year-Head Marisha Caesar-Phillip, the second form teachers and the Guidance Counsellor Mr. Clifford Pemberton collaborated on this initiative which was deemed both important and essential.

Facilitator of the workshop Mrs. Karen Tyme spoke to the second formers about conflict resolution and warned the students about bad decisions and urged them to value their lives.

Mrs. Tyme added that conflict is normal and encouraged the students to choose talking to the person they have a conflict with instead of resorting to violence.

Student Kadisha Glasgow shared the positive impact the workshop had on her.

Also present at the workshop was Rev. Mrs. Sonia Herbert who spoke about respect for self, peers and authority.
