Shooting incidents in Cayon; Police updates

ZIZ News…Basseterre…May 1, 2013 — On Saturday 27 April 2013 about 8:25 pm, police officers of the Cayon Police Station, Violent Crime Unit (VCU), SSU, and Crime Scene Unit responded to a report of a shooting incident in Cayon. According to a police statement, initial investigation revealed that Justin Milliard, 20, of Upper Cayon was shot at about 8:25pm on 27th April, 2013. He received a single gunshot wound to the right chest damaging his lungs. Investigation into this incident is ongoing.

On Monday 29th April 2013 around 8:31 pm, officers from the Cayon Police Station, Crime Scene Unit, Delta Squad, and K-9 Unit responded to a report of gun shots heard in the vicinity of Bryan Alley, Cayon. A police statement says an unknown assailant opened fire at the home of Anthony Benjamin aka Jamarlie and his family around 8:30 pm. Anthony received a gun wound to his right shoulder. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit and police collected evidence. Two persons were taken into police custody to assist with the investigation.

In other police news, Shevaughn Hendricks of Lime Kiln was formally charged for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to supply which was committed on 27th April 2013.

Shawn Esdaille of Main Street, St. Paul Village was formally charged for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to supply which was committed on 27th April 2013.

James Webbe of Cardine Avenue was formally charged for Driving under the influence of alcohol which was committed on 27th April 2013 at Church Street.

Claverston Tyson of Lodge Village was formally charged for wounding which was committed on 27th April 2013 at Lodge Village.
