SKELEC begins smart meter installation

(ZIZ)– SKLEC has announced the commencement of the installation of the new smart meters.

According to project manager, Bertill Browne, while the smart meters are not yet fully operational, installation began yesterday in selected areas and is progressing smoothly.

Mr. Browne said that a public awareness programme is ongoing as the concept of smart meters is new to many and SKELEC was determined to ensure their customers are properly appraised of the changes.

Mr. Brown noted that the primary benefit of the smart meter to the consumer will be more accurate readings of their power consumption, thus eliminating billing errors and the need for customers based on estimates.
