SKNOC continues to partner with its Member Federations

ZIZ News…March 23 2012 — The SKNOC continues to partner with its Member Federations in order to further enhance the development of sports in the Federation by investing in the training of their coaches and in providing high level competition opportunities for their athletes.

Ms. Ayana Hanley, an International Association of Athletics Association (IAAF) Certified Coach, has been awarded the 2012 Olympic Solidarity Coaching Scholarship by the National Olympic Committee (NOC). The coaching course is pursued at the internationally acclaimed Semmelweis University, Institute of Coaching and Sport Education in Budapest, Hungary at a cost of approximately E.C $40,000.00.

Ms Hanley departed the Federation on Tuesday 20th March, 2012, in pursuit of her diploma that is recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the sport of Athletics/Track and Field.

Since 1997, fourteen (14) coaches have been trained by the NOC under this programme in the sports of: Football/Soccer, Volleyball, Athletics, Basketball, Table Tennis and in the non-sport specific course of General Conditional.

Similarly, the St Kitts Amateur Volleyball Association (SKAVA) was also provided financial assistance for one (1) of its female Beach Volleyball team and two (2) of its male Beach Volleyball teams to participate in the NORCECA Tour in the Cayman Islands and Guatemala over the period March 22nd to April 1st, 2012.

The Beach Volleyballers will be attempting to qualify for the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 2015 Pan American Games.

The NOC wishes Ms Hanley and the Beach Volleyball Teams all the best as they continue to reap the benefits from active involvement in sports.
