St. Kitts and Nevis Federal Minister of Sport extends condolences to the Family of Runako Morton

This morning (Monday, March 5th 2012) I awoke to the sad news of the untimely death of Nevisian cricketer, Runako Morton following a car accident in his adopted home country of Trinidad, last night.

On behalf of the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Staff at the Ministry of Sports I want to extend condolences to Runako’s wife and children, his family and friends in Nevis and abroad, and the cricketing world.

Our grief is truly profound as Runako has been closely associated with our Ministry’s programmes dating back as far as 16 years ago when he pass through the Giant Malt – sponsored High School/Colleges Cricket Programme. As a successful graduate of this programme he earned the distinction of being the first participant to be selected for the West Indies Men’s Senior Cricket Team.

We are proud of his accomplishments at all levels of competitive cricket. The respect he earned on the local, regional and international stage for his cricketing abilities and fierce competitive spirit is evident by the number of messages that has been expressed by his former teammates and cricketers from around the world.

I again extend sincerest condolences and pray that god would bring comfort to those who mourn Runako’s sad and untimely passing.
