St.Kitts-Nevis fulfils responsibilities with UN convention

ZIZ News…May 6, 2010 – It has been announced that the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has satisfactorily fulfilled its responsibilities with the UN Convention and the Laws of the Seas.

ZIZ News spoke with the Director of Maritime Affairs, Mr McClean Hobson. He specified that the Federation has performed exceptionally well with regards to their flag state responsibilities, their port state duties and that they are on top of the game in their coastal state tasks.

Not revealing their intentions, just yet, Mr Hobson focused on their accomplishment. He recalled that this assessment period began since 2005, when the federation first began registering ships.

Mr Hobson noted that they are also eyeing the Caribbean Memorandum of Understanding. He added that the implementation of the port state control inspection training is being conducted by the international maritime organization to produce competent and professional staffing, in this regard.
