St. Kitts Nevis records first road fatality for 2012

ZIZ News…Feb 20, 2012 — The Traffic Department is investigating a traffic accident that occurred at about 7:10 pm on 19th February, along the Kim Collins Highway.

The accident involved motor car P1714 driven by Boris Johnson of Parray’s Village and motor car PA1436 driven by Kimo Liburd of Lodge Project. Investigations revealed that PA1436 was travelling towards the Airport when it collided with P1714 which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged. Both drivers sustained lacerations and bruises about their bodies as well as, Alexia Johnson, the front seat passenger of P1714.

A two year old child Joniah Johnson, who was also a passenger in P1714 sustained head and stomach injuries and died at the JNF Hospital around 11:00 pm while the adults are in a stable condition at the JNF Hospital.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death in this is the first road fatality for 2012.

Investigations are ongoing.
