BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 28TH 2911 (CUOPM) – Another Royal Caribbean cruise ship will soon be docking at St. Kitts’ Port Zante.

Royal Caribbean, the world’s second largest cruise line has announced that the 3,634-passenger Independence of the Seas will return to the Caribbean for the winter of 2012/13 after two years of sailing year-round out of Southampton, England.

The 154,407 ton-shop will sail alternating eight-night Eastern Caribbean and six-night Western Caribbean itineraries out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida starting in December 2012.

The Eastern Caribbean route features stops in San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Maarten; Basseterre, St. Kitts; and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach destination in Haiti

The Western Caribbean route offers stops in Falmouth, Jamaica; Grand Cayman; and Labadee.

In April, Royal Caribbean also placed St. Kitts on the itinerary of the 3,840-passenger Navigator of the Seas, which was repositioned to the Caribbean from the Mediterranean, where it had been scheduled to spend the coming winter.

The Navigator of the Seas stops in St. Kitts on November 11th on its inaugural scheduled call for the 2011/2012 Cruise Ship Season. A total of 8 calls will be made during this season.

Four Royal Caribbean ships are schedule to berth at Port Zante for the 2011/2012 Cruise Ship Season. They are the 2,540-passenger capacity Serenade of the Seas; the 3,114-passenger capacity Adventure of the Seas; the 3,840 passenger capacity Explorer of the Seas; the 5,400 passenger capacity Allure of the Seas and the 2,500 passenger Jewel of the Seas.

These ships will make a combined 42 calls to St. Kitts with an estimated 133,440 passengers during the 2011/2012 season.
