Stress relief fair

(ZIZ News) — Relieving stress was the focus of a rally held at the independence square on Thursday in observance of World Day of Health and Safety at Work.

The Department Of Labour joined the international labour community in commemorating World Day for Health and Safety at Work with the hosting of a stress fair and rally.

Senior labour officer in the Department Of Labour Shernel James spoke of some of the services offered at the rally.

“The rally is all about ways in which you can cope with workplace stress and ways in which to alleviate workplace stress using natural techniques such as exercise, massages, yoga, healthy foods—it’s all about wellness and a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

According to the Senior Labour Officer, the activity aims to bring awareness to health and safety in the workplace.

She said, “It’s about a preventative tool because if you can prevent workplace accidents, workplace injuries, workplace illnesses, you can build a culture of prevention. It’s about prevention and how you can have decent work wherever you may choose to work.”

The stress rally was coordinated by the ministry of labour in collaboration with its social partners— the St. Kitts Nevis Trades and Labour Union, The St. Kitts Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and The St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board.

The day was observed under the theme “Workplace Stress: A Collective Challenge”.
