(ZIZ News)– In three days, Basseterre will overflow with excitement as the Ministry of Culture and the National Carnival Committee host the official opening of Carnival 2014-2015.
Committee Chairman, Sylvester Anthony, stopped by ZIZ’s studio on Tuesday to speak of the highlights of Friday’s opening.
“The programme is essentially the same as it always is. We’ll have a parade through the streets of Basseterre. The opening will take place on the western side of the Old Treasury Building. The main events will include the introduction of our National Carnival Queen Pageant contestants as well as the contestants for the Talented Teen. Apart from that, we’ll have the usual folklore presentations as well as an opportunity for the various troupes to present their costumes and the designs that they will be showcasing this year. There shall be some other entertainment from local artists and of course the declaration by the Honourable Minister in relation to the official opening of Carnival,” he said.
St. Kitts and Nevis’ National Carnival, also dubbed “Sugar Mas 43” is being celebrated with the slogan “Join the Fun and Revelry for Sugar Mas 43.”
