Summer Safety Programme Opens

ZIZ News — On Wednesday The St. Kitts And Nevis Fire and Rescue Services held an opening ceremony to launch the 12th anniversary of its Summer Safety Programme.

Fire Sub Officer Davron Clark, in his welcome remarks, gave an overview of the safety programme.

“Our aim is to ensure that all children of the primary age level are equipped with the safety and prevention tools that will enable them to be better informed and safe during the most vulnerable time of school summer vacation,” he said.

He continued by giving a brief outlook on what this year’s programme contains.

“Areas that are covered include water safety by the Coast Guard, traffic safety by the Traffic Department and fire safety by the Fire and Rescue Services,” she said.

In her remarks and declaration of the programme’s official start, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Her Excellency Astona Browne, said the programme was important.

“We must never stop learning, for life never stops teaching. You will be given the opportunity to participate in various scenarios that will allow you to learn the lessons of life that deal with safety and security,” she said.

The St. Kitts And Nevis Fire and Rescue Services seeks to protect the lives and property of citizens and the general economy by preventing and reducing the dangers and effects of fires and explosions.
