Teachers’ Union Training Workshop Underway

RonCollins-1(ZIZ)– The St. Kitts Teachers’ Union (SKTU) facilitated Monday’s opening ceremony of the annual Teachers’ Training Workshop at the Advanced Vocational Education Centre (AVEC).

During his opening remarks, SKTU President Ron Collins said the training workshop was part of a vision for professional development.

He said, “We are seeking to raise the profile of the SKTU through capacity building. The SKTU, our nation, we are actively and passionately concerned with enhancing the ability of the union, to enhance…and represent workers to fulfil roles more effectively and efficiently.”

The Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) is collaborating with the St. Kitts Teachers’ Union to ensure the success of the training exercise.

CTF Team Leader, Patricia Monroe said her union is ready to work with the SKTU.

“As teachers working together in partnership, we will learn from each other. Together over the next two weeks we will make teachers action for learning a reality, the real meaning of team. Together everyone achieves more,” she said.

Also present at Monday’s opening ceremony were executive members of the St. Kitts Teachers’ Union, the Canadian Teachers’ Federation, co-tutors from the SKTU and school students.

The workshop will continue for the next two weeks.
