NIA-CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (November 21, 2011) — “The Police is watching you…we will catch you!” Those were the ominous words of Head of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Nevis Division’s Task Force Inspector Winston Wilkinson, as he warned persons involved in illicit activity on Nevis, who the law had not yet caught up with.

He was at the time in an interview with the Department of Information, at the scene of a drug eradication exercise in the heights of Nevis on Saturday. The Inspector said it took members of the Unit one week to uproot a total of 450 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of EC$102,500 before setting ablaze their find.

“God is watching all of us, he looks over us we pray to him each day but the Police is watching you. As you engage in your illicit activities, drugs, hammond, robbery, breaking into people’s house just remember, somebody other than the Almighty is watching you and it just might be the Police.

So eventually if you are in it, you are going to win it, we will catch you! “We have intensified our operations, the Christmas, Carnival in St. Kitts is coming up [and] we know that persons are desperate to get monies and unfortunately some persons use illegal means to get money to achieve their financial goals.

The Police is watching you,” he said. Notwithstanding, the Senior Police Officer used the opportunity to plead with the youths to stay away from illegal activities that could eventually lead to incarceration. “Prison is a very hard place. I have spoken to convicts and a lot of them really regret engaging in illegal activities to end up in Jail. They don’t like it. It is not a good place to be especially if you are a young man or young woman. So desist because you are going to get caught,” he warned.
