The stage is set for a big showdown between the top calypsonians in St. Kitts and Nevis

Calypso Semi-finals at Carnival Village

ZIZ News…Dec 18, 2010 – Seven calypsonians have been chosen to come up against the King Socrates when the finals of the calypso competition take place later this month.

The show is one of the highlights of National Carnival which officially opened last night.

Those selected are Anastasia, Pungwa, Singing Jackie, I-Soursop, Kinta, and Astro who have made it to the finals before and the new comer on the scene Stitch In Time who is taking part in the competition for the first time.

Big Lice who has been a consistent finalist over the years did not make it in the final eleven but was chosen as the alternate calypsonian.

Musical accompaniment for all sixteen calypsonians was provided by both the Grand Masters and the Legends band.

A packed Carnival Village witnessed the calypsonians go head to head in what can be described as one of the best semi-final shows held over the years. This is also the last time that a carnival event will be held at that venue as the show will now take place at the “Sugar Mill” located on the grounds of the Football Stadium.
