Two arrested for Shaw Avenue Shooting

Basseterre, St.Kitts, April 18 2012 — Two young men have been arrested for the shooting death of a 19 year old.

According to a police statement, today 24 year old Lennox Gumbs alias “Len” of St Johnson Village and 20 years old Randy Taylor of Taylor’s Village were both formally arrested and charged for the Murder of Trevis Henville.

The Commissioner of Police says he is pleased with the recent success gained by Inspector Smithen and the new CID but sees this success as one in which praise and commendation is owed to the ordinary citizens of the community. It is as a direct result of the communities confidence, support and most importantly their heightened interest of having the streets of our Federation recaptured by the police and returned why we as an agency is succeeding.

On Tuesday 17th April 2012 one Trevis Henville was fatally wounded as a result of being shot to death at Shaw Avenue Basseterre. The Police responded to this incident at approximately 8:10 am. Crime Scene Technicians examined the scene and investigators in collaboration with the intelligence units mounted surveillance exercises in an effort to locate the assailants.

Inspector Smithen of the Criminal Investigation Department reported that the collaborative efforts of the joint forces has resulted in this murder being detected within the 48 hours of the incident.

The police say they truly appreciative of the support given by all persons and urge everyone to maintain the support given as they channel their energies in tandem with social groups and social professionals beyond that of mere detection and into the realm of crime prevention strategies for the remainder of 2012.
