Two charged for murder of St. Paul’s businessman

ZIZ NEWSROOM, BASSETERRE, February 29, 2012 — Police have arrested two men for the murder of St.Paul’s shopkeeper Wingrove Parris.

According to head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Inspector Charles Smithen, 28-year-old Shaheed Williams and 25-year-old Rayjorn Richards, both from St. Paul’s, have been charged with murder.

Parris was shot several times just outside his shop in St. Paul’s sometime after 11pm on Sunday and died on arrival at the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point, according to information from the police Press and Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Stephen Hector.

In a statement, the police have thanked the public and the press for their help in solving this crime and are asking for further cooperation to keep the country crime-free, in order for residents and visitors alike to feel free to go about their daily lives peacefully.

Parris’ death is the fifth homicide in St Kitts and Nevis for the year.
