Two New Pieces of Equipment Donated to the JNF General Hospital

ZIZ News…Dec. 22 2010 – The St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board has again demonstrated its commitment to health care by handing over more than US$45,000.00 worth of equipment to the Joseph N. France General Hospital in the form of a Blood Gas Analyzer and a Mobile X-Ray Machine. This recent donation is part of Social Security’s annual contribution to the Health sector of the Federation under which both islands receive valuable support for the needs of their respective health facilities. This has brought the Board’s total contribution over the years to approximately 5 million dollars worth of health care paraphernalia.

In a ceremony at the Radiology Department of the Joseph N. France General Hospital on Friday 10th December 2010, Chairman of the Social Security Board Mr. Halva Hendrickson, outlined the philosophy of the Board in making this donation and stated his own pleasure at being in a position to deliver gifts in this manner.

Mr. Stanley Franks, Deputy Chairman of the Social Security Board performed the symbolic hand over to Health Minister, Hon. Marcella Liburd. Minister Liburd took time to declare her own appreciation in relation to the donation.

Biomedical technician Collin Mulley, Assistant Nurse Manager Cerene Browne and Radiology Technician Claricia Natta explained some of the features of the equipment and stressed their happiness at being able to offer improved bedside care now that they have the equipment.

Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Cameron Wilkinson delivered a vote of thanks. Highlighting the practical and beneficial uses of the new additions to the stock of critical care apparatus, he too expressed gratitude to the Social Security Board for its valuable contribution to the hospital at a time when the equipment is really needed.

Other persons present at the ceremony included: Members of the Board of Social Security; Director Mrs. Sephlin Lawrence, Deputy Director His Excellency Mr. Steve Wrensford and members of the management team and Staff of Social Security; Hospital Operations Manager Ms. Launette Adams; Matron of the hospital Mrs. Sonia Daley; Dr. Mark Hodge and other miscellaneous staff of the Hospital.

The proceedings were chaired by Social Security’s Assistant Director of Research Statistics and Public Relations Mr. Elvin Bailey. The invocation of God’s Blessings was delivered by Collin Mulley.
