Two persons charged with murder while several others facing the court for marijuana possession and other offences

ZIZ News…July 10, 2012 — According to a release from the office of the public relations officer, Darrel Sutton of Stone Fort Estate and Nicholas Riley of Challenger’s Village were formally charged for the murder of Kevaughn Pemberton of Old Road.

The release also outlined a number of court convictions.

COURT CONVICTION: at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court Akil Caines of Cayon was convicted for Possession of cannabis and fined $400.00 payable in one month or in default will serve two weeks in prison.

Meanwhile, the following convictions were handed down at the Sandy Point Magistrates’ Court:

Vincent Huggins of Pogson’s Village was convicted for Possession of Cannabis, Cultivation and Possession with intent to supply which were committed on 9/4/12 at Pogson. He was cautioned, sentenced to thirty days at Her Majesty’s Prison with hard labour, and fined $2000.00 to be paid by 31/7/12 or in default he serve thirty days in prison with hard labor, respectively.

Jaron Francis of Farms Site Sandy Point who was convicted for Possession of Cannabis which was committed on 22/11/11 at Farms Site and fine $1500.00 to be paid by 31/7/12 or in default he will serve thirty days at Her Majesty’s Prison with hard labour.

Amanda Edmeade of Saddlers Village was convicted for Driving without due care and attention which was committed on 14/6/11 at Belle Vue, was fined $500.00 to be paid by 31/7/12 or in default will serve seven days at Her Majesty’s Prison with hard labour.

In other police news…The Drug Unit executed a search warrant on the premises of Jason Stevens of Lower Monkey Hill and a quantity of cannabis was found. Jason was later formally charged for possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

A number of arrests were also made by the police.

ARREST: A juvenile was formally charged and cautioned for the offences of (1) Taking Vehicle without the consent of the owner, (2) Driving without Insurance and (3) Driving without a valid and unexpired driver’s license.

ARREST: Kenneth Ward of East Street, New Town was formally charged for possession of cocaine.

ARREST: Clive Farrara of Infirmary Road was formally charged for obstruction and carrying abroad offensive weapons and Possession of crack cocaine.

ARREST: Terrence Jeffers of New Road was formally charged for the offence of Driving Under the Influence of alcohol.

And out of Nevis, the Police Division uprooted 303 Marijuana plants ranging from 6 inches to 6 feet in height, from a vacant land in Gingerland area. No one was held accountable and plants were taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the the Frigate Bay Police are investigating a report of a missing vehicle; a black Honda Prelude motor car PA6778 with a grey hood. The car was reported missing between 6pm on 5/7/12 and 6pm on 6/7/12.
