Upcoming Royal Visit inspires youth in Defence Force Band

The young musicians of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Force Band will have an opportunity to provide musical accompaniment for the Guard of Honour that will be inspected by their Royal Highnesses on Saturday March 3rd during the visit of the earl and countess of wessex on that day.

Band master lieutenant Sylvester Charles explained that additional band practices have been scheduled and the young performers are also fine tuning their drill techniques.

He said “the public can expect high quality music and enhanced performances in terms of the sound. With the addition of the youngsters, it should be a more wholesome tone by the band.”

The 20-member band is expected to perform favorites such as Men of Harlech.

The youngsters previously performed at a Beating of the Retreat Ceremony on the Bay Road, on February 6, as a part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
