USVI Governor pays brief visit to St. Kitts and Nevis

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 25TH 2012 (CUOPM) – Governor of the United States Virgin Islands the Hon. John P. de Jongh paid a brief visit to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday.

Governor de Jongh met and held discussions with Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas at the Prime Minister’s Office, Government Headquarters in Basseterre on matters on local and regional concern.

“It was also to renew the relationship between the United States Virgin Islands and St. Kitts and Nevis,” the Governor told the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Douglas, whom met Governor de John three years ago while on St. Croix to attend the Commencement Exercises of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) said he was happy to discuss the issues with the USVI official.

The Governor also visited the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino.

Before departing the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, Governor de Jongh met and held brief discussions with Advisor in the Ministry of Tourism and International Trade, Mr. Cedric Liburd, who noted that USVI Lt. Governor and officials in the Department of Tourism visited St. Kitts last year.
